In this work Professor Chittick provides us with a sober and balanced introduction to the esoterism of the Islamic faith. By reading this book not only did I learn the importance of Sufi dhikr (remembrance), but also of the symbolic meaning of the veil - as it is mentioned by Ibn Arabi. This is a wonderful book that should be read by anyone who is interested in esoterism and the Islamic civilisation.
